Eastern Association Productions is working in partnership with Play Nicely Theatre to create a new play exploring the 1643 civil war siege of Brampton Bryan Castle and the life of the woman who defended her home - Brilliana, Lady Harley.

Throughout the Spring of 2021 we worked with a team of creatives to develop initial ideas for the production. This team included the performers Laurence Pears (The Play That Goes Wrong), Sophie Steer (It's True, It's True, It's True) + Henri Merriam (Smooth Faced Gentlemen).

The behind the scenes crew comprised director Scott Hurran (Eastern Angles), writer Mark Finbow (The Keeper's Daughter) and designer Mike Lees (Uncle Vanya, Harold Pinter Theatre). Historical advisors on the project are Sara Read and Catie Gill (Loughborough University).

Brilliana is produced by Henri Merriam + Mark Finbow.

A development draft was presented in 2022 as a script-in-hand reading at St Barnabas Church, Brampton Bryan and was commissioned by the Forward St Barnabas Project.

Brilliana is supported using public funding by Arts Council England.

WE ARE NOW BOOKING OUR TOUR.
